Jonathan Cartledge

Head of Public Affairs & Membership

Jonathan leads the Public Affairs team encompassing government relations, marketing and communications to drive the uptake of more liveable, productive, resilient and sustainable buildings, cities and communities.

Jonathan brings over 15 years experience in senior management, government relations, strategy and project management roles in the public and not-for-profit sectors in Australia and the UK.

Jonathan is chair of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council Cities Task Group, he has a Master of International Studies with Honours from the University of Sydney, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Jorge ensures that GBCA’s strategic priorities, partnerships, and product and services, including Green Star, accelerate the transformation of Australia’s built environment – delivering more liveable, resilient, and sustainable places for everyone.

He has an architecture degree from the University of Monterrey in Mexico and a Masters in Design Science from the University of Sydney.

Lucy Harris

Head of Industry Development & Partnerships

Lucy is responsible for engaging with the industry to build a valuable and relevant Professional Development and Events program in order to drive understanding of the GBCA’s green star rating tools and more generally, building the industry’s breadth of knowledge around issues relating to sustainability.

Lucy has more than 18 years of experience launching and managing a wide range of events globally including conferences, exhibitions, training courses, seminars and distance learning courses.

Lynne Harman

Legal Counsel & Company Secretary

Lynne supports the governance and legal responsibilities of GBCA. Her role includes ensuring the conduct of board meetings and compliance with the GBCA Constitution and statutory requirements.

Lynne has a BA LLM from the University of Sydney and worked at the commercial law firm, Allens for 20 years. She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Stephen Thatcher

Head of Finance & Operations

Stephen is responsible for the financial management and general operations of GBCA – from preparing the annual budget through to completion of the organisation's annual financial report.

Stephen has more than 15 years' experience working within the commercial property sector in Australia having previously been with one of Australias leading project management firms.

Jorge ensures that the GBCA’s product and service offerings continue to improve Australia’s built environment – delivering more sustainable and liveable places and communities.

Senior Manager- Market Engagement

Jamie is a Senior Manager in the Market Engagement team and is based in Melbourne. Jamie works to engage with new and existing members and Green Star project teams to identify opportunities and promote the growth and uptake of Green Star.

Jamie has over ten years experience driving sustainability in the built environment. He has worked closely with the property sector, business and government to design and deliver energy efficiency and sustainable design initiatives.

Senior Manager- Market Engagement

Nick is a key interface with industry stakeholders, assisting them to engage with the GBCA’s services and membership offerings, to drive tangible and measurable sustainable build form outcomes aligned with their business priorities.

Based in Melbourne, Nick has over 15 years experience in sustainability leadership, in state and local government. He has experience in sustainable urban design and planning, environmental management, renewable energy deployment and property sector support programs.

Manager - Green Star Future Focus

Devan is responsible for managing the development process for the next update to Green Star.

Before working at the GBCA, Devan was a green building consultant in South Africa and the United Kingdom, Devan completed a Master's in Economic & Management Sciences, where his research focused on renewable energy policy development

Elham Monavari

Senior Manager – Strategic Projects

Elham is a Senior Manager responsible for the delivery of the GBCA’s strategic projects. These projects include the development of a Future Homes program and the management of the Future Focus program.
Elham is an accredited professional with over 15 years’ of experience driving the design, management and implementation of sustainability strategies at a national and international level. She has experience in developing and implementing sustainability programs within the built environment including on infrastructure and building projects.

Margaux assists in administrative support for the Market Engagement team as well as supporting the Market Transformation team in the Green Star Future Focus consultation process. Margaux has a Masters of Sustainable Built Environment at the University of New South Wales as well as a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) from the University of Canterbury.

Nicole Sullivan

Senior Manager - Green Star Solutions

Leading the Green Star Solutions team, Nicole is responsible for Green Star certification and technical development of the rating system. With a combination of technical expertise and marketing experience, Nicole is able to communicate the complexities of sustainable design and construction in accessible language that resonates with customers. She is focused on maintaining the integrity of Green Star ratings while providing a flexible customer experience.

Taryn Cornell

Technical Manager

As a Technical Manager, Taryn facilitates development and innovation of the rating tools ensuring they are aligned with industry needs and standards.

Prior to joining the GBCA, Taryn worked for over a decade in interior and architectural design specialising in high-end hospitality and residential work, with many years’ on-site project experience. After graduating from RMIT with a Diploma in Interior design, she has developed a detailed and considered approach to delivery and stakeholder engagement, and has a passion for design outcomes that engage community and promote societal betterment.

Sonia De Almada

Green Star Operations Manager

Sonia is the Green Star Operations Manager at the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). She is responsible for managing the delivery of the Green Star certification program for all Green Star projects, ensuring provision of exceptional service and value for Green Star projects, as well as working with the Green Star Solutions team and assist them in contributing to the realisation of the GBCA’s mission and strategic goals. Sonia has over 11 years' experience in the green building industry and has a background in architecture. Sonia has completed a Diploma of Architectural Technology, and a Bachelor of Architecture, with First Class Honours, from the University of New South Wales.

Deejan Ferrao

Technical Advisor

Deejan delivers technical support to project teams who are working towards their Green Star certification. He has experience in energy efficiency in residential buildings, with a deep interest in passive design strategies and the application of circular economy in the building industry.

Deejan holds a Bachelor of Engineering- Civil from VTU, India and a Master of Sustainable Built Environment from the University of New South Wales.

Eva Zhang

Senior Technical Coordinator

Eva provides technical assistance to project teams working towards Green Star certification. Prior to joining the GBCA, she worked in project management and development management in the property sector, coordinating the delivery of high-end residential and commercial projects. She has an interest in alternative development and delivery methodologies that promote a more affordable, sustainable and quality built environment.
Eva holds a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Property from the University of Melbourne.

Emma Bezzina

Senior Technical Coordinator

Emma was working in operations at the GBCA before moving into the Green Star Solutions team where Emma coordinated our Green Star certification process, helping to ensure that projects are able to deliver on their Green Star objectives. Emma also helps with Green Star queries and record management, and provides administrative support across both our Green Star Solutions and Market Transformation teams.

Emma transitioned into the role of Technical Coordinator where she provided assistance to our Green Star project teams on their Green Star journey. Moving into the Senior Technical Coordinator role Emma provides support to our Technical Coordinators through the Green Star certification process, and
facilitate the continuous improvement of Green Star certification processes and rating tools; Facilitates Green Star certification by supporting external project teams and Certified Assessors on
challenging projects requiring innovative approaches, and; Provides support in coordinating, reviewing, and developing technical materials relevant to rating tools and related activities.

Emma holds a Bachelor of Environment from Macquarie University.

Nick Baker

Technical Coordinator

Nick provides technical support to project teams that are working towards a Green Star rating and assists in the development of future rating tools. He is passionate about improving environmental, social and economic outcomes in the building industry and has a strong interest in addressing the contribution the built environment makes to long-term climate change.

Nick holds a Bachelor of Resource Economics with Honours from the University of Sydney and is currently studying a Master of Sustainability, also at the University of Sydney.

Benita Charles

Technical Coordinator

Benita provides technical support to project teams that are aiming to achieve Green Star certification and contributes to the ongoing development of rating tools.

She has experience in project engineering and has a keen interest in sustainability and the built environment.

Diveshen Gengiah

Technical Coordinator

Diveshen joined the GBCA team as a Technical Coordinator in December 2018. He aims to provide ongoing technical support to project teams striving towards Green Star Certification and assist in the development of the rating tools. Having recently graduated, he is excited to help drive cost-effective and sustainable outcomes in the built environment. Diveshen holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Commerce from the University of Sydney.

Anna Hendricks

Technical Coordinator

Anna was working in Operations for 1.5 years at the GBCA prior to transitioning into the Technical Coordinator role. She now provides technical support to project teams targeting Green Star certification and assists in the development of rating tools.

Anna has a Bachelor of Arts (Government & International Relations and Environmental Studies) from the University of Sydney and is currently undertaking a Masters of Urbanism (Urban and Regional Planning).

Technical Coordinator

As a Technical Coordinator, Lyanna assists project teams in the Green Star certification process by providing support to project teams as well as developing technical materials relevant to our Green Star rating tool. Lyanna is passionate about sustainability and its role in the built environment industry. She also has a keen interest in exploring its impact on the future of global climate change. Lyanna has recently completed a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and Commerce (Management) at the University of New South Wales.

Tori provides administrative support to the Green Star Solutions and Market Transformation teams as well as assisting with Green Star queries. Part of Tori’s role of assisting with Green Star queries includes assisting project teams throughout the registration and assessment process.

Sandra works to develop and deliver the GBCA’s advocacy priorities by informing the public policy debate and engaging key stakeholders at all levels. With experience in both state government and industry, she has worked extensively with the property sector to drive sustainable outcomes for the built environment, and is passionate about the future of our cities. She is based in Melbourne.

Senior Manager - Research

Helen manages the GBCA’s research program, including managing collaborations with universities and industry, measuring customer satisfaction and gathering stakeholder feedback and publishing new research. She has over 18 years of experience in market and social research and strategic planning roles. She holds a BA Communications and a Post Grad Diploma in Environment.

Senior Manager - Membership

Jeff is a Senior Manager of Market Engagement at the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) where he has worked for the past 8 years. Currently managing membership and business development at the GBCA, he brings a wealth of experience in stakeholder engagement and has been a strong supporter of a more sustainable property industry. Originally from Canada, Jeff has come to Sydney via South Korea, where he worked in commercial leasing transaction management for a global real estate consulting firm.

Alexis is the first port of call for all membership queries related to GBCA and is responsible for liasing with over 600 primary contacts at our member organisations. With over a decade’s experience working in administration and customer service roles, Alexis is passionate about going above and beyond to deliver comprehensive and efficient outcomes for our members. Having worked at the GBCA for over five years, she has an in-depth knowledge of our membership structure and can help walk you through the benefits and opportunities of coming on board with us.

Anthony is responsible for the creative development of print and digital collateral used to support the various campaigns, events, products and services offered by the Green Building Council of Australia.

Cyrielle's role is to design, develop and improve internal business processes and methodologies with a view to improving efficiency and effectiveness of operations across the organisation.

Cyrielle has a Masters in Environmental Sciences and has previously worked on urban ecology renewal and planning consultations projects for local and state government.

Eva processes GBCA’s accounts payables and payroll and assists with month-end procedures.

Eva has a long history in finance having managed the accounts departments of medium size firms and run her own bookkeeping business for the past 15 years.

With over 20 years experience as a producer, researcher and manager of events, Nicola joined the GBCA after producing several events in the renewable energy space. This sparked a real interest in sustainability and now sees her current role a great combination of this and a passion for delivering professional, engaging events and professional development.

Blandine Vallee

Producer - Events & Professional Development

Blandine is responsible for the research, planning and managing of GBCA events and conferences. She worked for six years as a conference producer developing a range of conference programs in the energy sector in partnership with government and industry stakeholders.

Before she migrated to Australia in 2010, she worked in Montreal (Canada) as a project manager in an eco-district, managing green streets, local residents’ projects and recycling campaigns. She started her work career in France as a communication officer in the sustainability sector on the topic of discrimination in the workplace. Blandine is excited to join an organisation involved in social and environmental responsibility.

Debbie Roussakis

Partnerships Coordinator

Debbie is responsible for coordinating the successful delivery of benefits to the GBCA's partners as well as to assist in securing new partnerships in order to support the GBCA's strategy, projects and events. Her professional background is diverse having worked in government, education and the manufacturing sectors in a variety of roles covering technical, administrative, logistics and account management.

Debbie holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of New South Wales. She has an interest in sustainability in the built environment and driving long term changes to societal practices and philosophies.
