Working collectively

We believe that 'partnership is the new leadership' and that we must work collaboratively with governments, global green building councils, and national and international associations to drive the global adoption of green building practices.

Austrade

We work with Austrade to assist in the development of green building around the globe, and to showcase Australian capabilities in sustainable building practices.

Australian Institute of Architects (AIA)

We work jointly with AIA to deliver cross-accreditation of courses, events and activities that promote sustainability in the built environment.

Australian Institute of Refrigeration of Air conditioning and Heating AIRAH

We work jointly with AIRAH to increase awareness activities that promote sustainability in the built environment.

Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC)

We are an active member of ASBEC, the peak body of key organisations committed to a sustainable built environment in Australia.

Built Environment Meets Parliament (BEMP)

We co-host the BEMP conversation between parliamentarians and industry leaders, together with our partners Consult Australia, the Australian Institute of Architects, the Planning Institute of Australia and the Property Council of Australia. 

Climate Bonds Initiative

We work with the Climate Bonds Initiative to ensure the carbon intensity metrics found in Green Star – Performance can be used for reporting under the Climate Bonds Standard.

EcoDistricts

We work with US-based EcoDistricts to accelerate district-scale sustainable development in Australia – by exploring joint research opportunities, collaborating on industry education programs and sharing information on best practice.

Facility Management Association of Australia (FMA)

We work with the FMA to increase environmental responsibility within the facilities management industry and improve building operations Australia wide. 

Government Land Organisations

Every state and territory Government Land Organisation (GLO) in Australia supported the development of the Green Star – Communities rating tool for sustainable communities. The GLOs are: Landcom (NSW); Landcorp (WA); VicUrban (VIC); Land Management Corporation (SA); Land Development Agency (ACT); Urban Land Development Authority (QLD); Hunter Development Corporation (NSW) and Land Development Corporation (NT).

Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) and New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC).

We license Green Star to NZGBC to operate in New Zealand and GBCSA to operate in Africa. This has resulted in more than 100 buildings rated internationally in cities like Auckland, Christchurch, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Ghana. 

GRESB

Our partnership with GRESB, the leading global sustainability benchmark for real estate portfolios, aims to advance reporting on environmental, social and economic performance in Australia’s real estate sector. As part of our partnership, we provide information on Australia’s flourishing green building capabilities to showcase them to the world as part of the Green Building Information Gateway.

Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA)

We work with ISCA to improve the built environment of our cities. Through our partnership, we explore methods of increasing cooperation and information exchange, and promote shared interests.

International Living Future Institute (ILFI) and Living Future Institute of Australia (LFIA)  

We work with ILFI and LFIA to ensure alignment between Green Star and the Living Building Challenge, develop events and education offerings, joint research projects, and promote the opportunity to create regenerative buildings for all.

International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) 

We work with IWBI to ensure alignment between Green Star and WELL, develop events and education offerings, and promote building practices that improve the health and well-being of occupants.

NABERS

We work closely with the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, which administers NABERS, to deliver a consistent and compatible approach to rating energy use in buildings. 

Planning Institute of Australia (PIA)

We have a memorandum of understanding with PIA to collaborate on the development and delivery of the Green Star – Communities rating tool

World Green Building Council (WorldGBC)

We are a founding member of the WorldGBC, a union of 100 councils from around the world are working together to accelerate global sustainable building practices.We also actively works with the green building councils in Hong Kong, Korea, China, and India. We work together with each GBC to share best practice, create networking opportunities, and consider joint research opportunities.
