The six Green Building Day topics that will propel your career forward

30 May 2024

Our annual Green Building Day roadshow is underway, and we are excited to bring the stars of Green Star to a city near you. In recent weeks we’ve taken Green Building Day to Perth and Brisbane and next up we’re visiting Melbourne on 6 June, Adelaide on 13 June and Sydney on 20 June, which is when you can tune into our virtual option. We recently spoke to Nicola Scudamore, Senior Manager Industry Development, about the top six must-know topics we’re covering at Green Building Day, the issues that will help propel your sustainability career while earning 6 CPD points just for attending!

Delivering social value in practice

The social value sessions at TRANSFORM were hugely popular and we’ll keep these important conversations going at Green Building Day. At each event we’ll take a closer look at social sustainability, so expect insightful conversations about social value, impact and Indigenous procurement too.

“At each of our upcoming Green Building Days we’ll examine how we can meaningfully work with people. From social value and working with communities, to social and indigenous procurement, we are excited to have presentations from Lendlease and also Social Traders, who will explore these essential themes,” said Nicola.

How nature and biodiversity strategies can be implemented on projects and in precincts

As our work increasingly supports the renewal of nature in our cities and communities, the nature and biodiversity conversations continue at Green Building Day. Each of our upcoming events will delve into our Nature roadmaps for the built environment, explore the unique opportunities for Australia and how we can reframe discussions around nature.

Achieving best practice in industrial projects

There is no better way to showcase the innovative use of Green Star than case studies. This year in Sydney we look forward to welcoming Bianca Bulsara, Sustainability Manager, Goodman, to learn how Goodman’s industrial projects achieve best practice. “We have seen a surge in industrial projects targeting Green Star and Bianca’s insights will take us through how they have overcome project challenges and the lessons learnt,” said Nicola.

Sustainable finance as a driver for decarbonisation and meeting industry goals

At home and around the world the property industry is embracing sustainable finance, recognising its potential to drive decarbonisation efforts and support sustainable development projects. This year each Green Building Day is hosting panel discussions on how to use sustainable finance to optimise your project outcomes, check out the agenda in your local city to see who is speaking at your Green Building Day.

Unlocking new opportunities with Green Star Buildings

Launched in 2020 Green Star Buildings has had the fastest uptake out of all Green Star rating tools and Nicky says our upcoming Green Building Days will bring you all you need to know on how Green Star Buildings is working in practice, with a focus on projects in your local area, “At Green Building Day we share learnings from industry in your local city. It’s an opportunity to hear about wins, challenges and how they were overcome. This year we look forward to hearing from Mirvac, Woods Bagot and many more at our Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and online events.”
