Working with members to promote the work we do together

26 Aug 2020

Jeff Oatman, Senior Manager – Membership, says it's been an interesting start to the financial year for GBCA and for many of our members. While the impact and uncertainty of COVID-19 does not need restating, the strength of GBCA's membership, and our focus on supporting our members, does deserve a special mention.

Membership is at the core of what we do. All the work we undertake is achieved through an engaged industry providing support and feedback to ensure we're focused on our vision of creating healthy, resilient and positive places.

It may not be a surprise to learn that of the 575+ GBCA members across the property spectrum, many have been with us for the lang haul. Over 43% of our membership have been with us for over 10 years, and remarkably 76 organisations have been with us for over 15 years. This strong support base has enabled us to deliver on our work for the past decade and a half and sets the groundwork for the future.

Our achievements are by extension, achievements of our members. This year we’re giving our members the tools they need to promote their alignment with us. The new membership marketing kit includes:

  1. GBCA member Marketing Guide - a simple 'how to' guide for promoting your membership. Includes ways to use your member logo, suggestions for website text and much more.
  2. Member logos - the GBCA logos we’ve created just for members. You can add these to your website, email signature and social media platforms.
  3. GBCA member Brand Guidelines - the guidelines on how to correctly apply the member logos to your platforms.
  4. Digital decals - the branded version of your member logo designed for use on any screen including a video loop in your lobby, PowerPoint presentations, or on screens at your events.
  5. '+10-year member' and '+15-year member' logos - for those members who have been with us for a very long time, we're giving specific recognition for their long-term commitment.

We encourage you to engage with these resources and be recognised for all you've helped us to achieve. How we support you is an important part of the membership value proposition and we are continually looking for ways to strengthen this relationship.

As we headed into a critical decade for both our industry and our commitments to the Paris Agreement we flagged there would be challenges. While none of us could have forseen the current health crisis, we know it’s more important than ever to band together with a clear focus to promote all we do to reach a more healthy, resilient and sustainable built environment.

Don’t wait, we encourage you to engage with us, to learn and better understand what we are working on and how it can apply to your current and future work. And if you're not sure, please reach out and see how we can help.
