The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has thanked Victorian Minister for Energy and Resources and Minister for Climate Action Lily D’Ambrosio following her announcement that she will retire from politics.
GBCA CEO Davina Rooney said Minister D’Ambrosio had played a pivotal role in shaping Victoria’s clean energy transition and advancing reforms that have improved the sustainability and performance of homes and buildings.
“Minister D’Ambrosio has made a significant contribution to Australia’s clean energy transition, and we thank her for her years of leadership and service,” Ms Rooney said.
“During her time in government, Victoria introduced landmark reforms including Australia’s first legislated net zero emissions target, the transition to all-electric new homes and commercial buildings, and stronger energy efficiency standards. These reforms have helped accelerate the shift to cleaner, more efficient homes and buildings while providing greater certainty for industry to invest in a more sustainable built environment.”
Ms Rooney said GBCA had valued the opportunity to work constructively with Minister D’Ambrosio and the Victorian Government over many years on practical reforms that improve the sustainability and performance of Australia’s built environment.
“We thank Minister D’Ambrosio for her passion, dedication and contribution and wish her well for the future.”
