The Green Building Council of Australia is proud to announce the Green Star Champions of 2025, a group of industry leaders recognised for their exceptional commitment to creating a more sustainable built environment.
Now in its fifth year, the Green Star Champion award celebrates professionals across the sector, including engineers, designers, planners, architects, professionals, consultants, and leading advocates, who have made a lasting contribution to resilient, healthy and more energy efficient places through Green Star.
GBCA CEO, Davina Rooney, said the 2025 Green Star Champions exemplify what’s possible when passion and purpose intersect.
"Their work is not only shaping the built environment, but reshaping mindsets across the industry. We’re proud to recognise these individuals who continue to push boundaries and set new benchmarks for sustainability in the industry.
“All the champions have shown a dedication to the creation of healthy and efficient places that respond to the challenge that is climate change,” said Ms Rooney.
On receiving the award, Sarah Slattery, Director, Partnerships and Innovation at Slattery, said it highlighted the responsibility we all have.
“It’s an honour to be recognised as a 2025 Green Star Champion, and a reminder of the responsibility we all share in shaping a more sustainable future. I’m a firm believer that complacency has no place in our industry,” Sarah said.
Sarah has been part of the team at Slattery to launch Australia’s first carbon planning service and operate as a carbon neutral business, initiatives that have had real impact.
“I’m proud to be part of a movement driving meaningful change across the built environment.”
For winner Su-Fern Tan, Head of ESG for CBRE Pacific, her passion for sustainability in the industry comes from the ability to drive change at scale.
“What is exciting is the potential that the built environment holds to drive positive change both environmentally and socially. Every individual stands to benefit from the adoption of sustainability in our buildings,” said Su-Fern.
Evan Smith, National Sustainability Manager at Holcim, said the award was an honour
“I’m honoured to be named a 2025 Green Star Champion—especially alongside so many past recipients I respect and admire. Green Star has been a driving force in transforming the Australian built environment, and I’m proud to be part of that journey.
“Working in this space gives me a strong sense of purpose. The work we do today can significantly reduce Australia’s carbon emissions and lay the foundation for a more sustainable, resilient future.”
The year’s Green Star Champions have been celebrated at the Green Building Day events across Australia.
