The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has announced a change to its Board leadership, with Anthony Boyd appointed as incoming Chair following the July Board meeting yesterday.

Anthony Boyd, previously CEO of Frasers Property Australia and a long-standing GBCA Board Director, will take over from Adrian Pozzo, who has stepped down as Chair after three years in the role.

GBCA CEO, Davina Rooney, thanked Mr Pozzo for his outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to GBCA’s mission.

“Adrian has been an extraordinary Chair – steering our Board through a period of immense growth and impact,” Ms Rooney said.

“His industry insight, steady leadership and passion for sustainability have helped shape the next chapter of our organisation. We are deeply grateful for his service.”

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Anthony Boyd as our new Chair. Anthony brings strong commercial experience and a deep commitment to better outcomes for people and places, and we look forward to working with him to continue shaping the future of Australia’s built environment.”

Mr Pozzo has been on the GBCA Board since the beginning of 2018 and will finish his term in November. He reflected on his time as Chair of the GBCA, saying it had been a privilege to serve the Board and wider organisation during a time of meaningful progress and impact.

“The GBCA has gone through a period of incredible progress in recent years, with the evolution of Green Star and its growing influence in Australia’s housing and social infrastructure,” Mr Pozzo said.

“I am exceptionally proud of the work we have done to raise the bar on sustainability and champion change in the built environment to date. The GBCA is in great hands with Anthony Boyd and the Board, and I look forward to supporting its continued success.”

Mr Boyd said he was honoured to take on the role and acknowledged the importance of GBCA’s work in accelerating sustainable transformation across the built environment.

“It’s a privilege to take on the role of Chair at the Green Building Council of Australia, understanding the enormous contribution Adrian has made and the legacy he leaves.

“As expectations continue to evolve across the sector, there’s growing recognition that circular design and restoring nature must be part of how we build.

“The opportunity now is to build on the strong foundations already in place and continue aligning commercial performance with long-term outcomes.

“I look forward to supporting GBCA’s work to make sustainable transformation more accessible, scalable and practical across the property industry,” Mr Boyd said.

The Board and executive team extend their sincere thanks to Adrian Pozzo for his leadership and service, and warmly welcome Anthony Boyd as Chair, as GBCA continues its mission to drive the sustainable transformation of Australia’s built environment.
