Have you ever wondered who makes up our team at the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA)?

You might be surprised to learn that we come from all sorts of diverse professional backgrounds.

We’re a team of engineers, architects, event planners, writers, marketers and thought-leaders who have one thing in common – our passion to transform Australia’s sustainable built environment.

Now, we’re on the hunt to grow our Green Star team with the addition of a Technical Specialist.

What do you need to bring to the table?

We’re looking for someone who has a tertiary qualification in engineering, planning, environmental science or a similar discipline to help shape Australia’s future. If you’re a Green Star Accredited Professional – even better! Familiarity with our rating system will be an invaluable tool to assisting out team.

Simon Ng joined the GBCA in 2013 as a Case Manager in 2013 and has moved up the ranks to become a Technical Lead within the Green Star Solutions team. Simon has built an incredible relationship with industry as a fountain of knowledge, particularly around the Green Star – Performance rating tool.

How has your role at the GBCA evolved over the past few years?

My role has evolved since first joining the organisation, ranging from supporting project teams as a Case Manager to achieve their Green Star ratings, to developing our rating tools which I am now focussing on.

What opportunities has this afforded you?

All sorts of things! Facilitating training courses, presenting at conferences and collaborating with industry on a local, national and global level.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your role?

Back stage access to some of the most amazing buildings in the country, as well as the brightest minds in sustainability.

Any words of advice for our future Technical Specialist?

Have an open mind and be willing to learn – this attitude will offer you an incredibly fulfilling role at the GBCA.
