GBCA, in partnership with Data Centres Australia, is launching our sustainable data centres initiative to define and deliver best practice sustainability outcomes in the design, construction, and operation of data centres in Australia. This partnership will help set the path for these essential facilities to show they responsibly address energy, water, nature, and community impacts. Together, we can develop a vision to ensure Australia’s digital infrastructure grows sustainably and sets the global standard for ESG leadership.
We would love to collaborate with value aligned partners to support GBCA’s vision to build a positive, resilient and responsible digital built environment. Data Centres sit at the intersection of multiple sectors. We are seeking partners from across the industry including developers, builders, technology, consultants, finance, government and suppliers.
We are establishing a working group to assist with this work, to help understand the policy needs and challenges, industry needs and sustainable finance requirements.
Together, we can develop a vision to ensure Australia’s digital infrastructure grows sustainably – and sets the global standard for ESG leadership.

We are seeking organisations delivering live data centre projects in Australia to participate in our pilot program.
This is an opportunity to collaborate with us to shape practical guidance and clear pathways that will accelerate sustainability outcomes across the Australian data centre sector.
If you have a current project you would like to nominate, we would love to hear from you.
