Your new opportunity

Reporting to the COO, this role will see you leading a small team. You will manage day-to-day finance functions, monitor and provide financial reporting, and oversee the annual audit process. In addition, you will manage office operations and facilities, improving operational business processes and implementing initiatives to enhance efficiency where necessary.   

You will cultivate collaborative relationships with business teams and suppliers, and ensure the provision of IT services via our outsourced provider, meet the needs of staff. 

Multi-tasking, managing competing priorities and solving problems are a daily occurrence as you provide an exceptional level of service to the business.  This is a hands-on role requiring a “can-do” attitude.

This full-time role based in our Sydney office has the potential to be 4 days/week for the right candidate, and offers a degree of hybrid work flexibility.  Whilst initially the role is an 18-month contract, there is the potential for the role to become permanent. 

Your new responsibilities

  • Controlling the organisation’s finance operations to ensure effective financial reporting and control of funds.
  • Providing regular reports, analysis and recommendations to Senior Management on financial and operating data and budget variances.
  • Management of payroll processes and preparation of statutory returns including BAS and FBT.
  • Managing the day to day running of office operations and facilities, recommending and implementing improvements, and ensuring issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Working with the outsourced IT provider to ensure the IT needs of staff are met, and where necessary dealing with adhoc IT issues.
  • Leading, mentoring and coordinating a small team.
  • Partnering with business teams and senior leadership to understand how the Finance and Operations function can best supports the business and provide a high level of internal customer service.

Your skills and experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Strong accounting skills
  • Savvy with technology and comfortable in dealing with minor IT issues
  • Demonstrated experience in managing office operations
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills 
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central is desirable
  • A strong sense of accountability and a commitment to delivering quality service

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in a finance discipline 
  • Chartered qualifications would be well regarded but not essential.
