Recertification FAQs

Projects that have been certified using Green Star – Communities or Green Star – Performance projects are required to undergo recertification to retain their rating.

A Green Star – Performance certified rating is valid for 3 years 3 months and a Green Star – Communities certified rating is valid for 5 years.

We've put together a 'How does recertification work? FAQ' document to answer some of your questions about the recertification process.

We know that every project is different, so if you can’t find the answer to your question in this document please feel free to contact the Green Star team.

Updates to Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculators

The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculator for Green Star – Design & As Built and Green Star – Interiors has been updated.

These updates include minor amendments to the Conditional Requirements of the Prescriptive Pathways, layout changes to the NABERS Energy Pathway to improve clarity, and a minor fix to limit the points available to zero if there is no improvement of the project in the Reference project pathway.

What if my project is already registered under a Green Star – Design & As Built or Green Star – Interiors?

We want the best possible outcome for your project. While the GBCA recommends the use of the most up to date calculator, registered projects have two options:

  • Take advantage of all updates and clarifications by moving to the latest version of the calculator; or
  • Continue using the calculator available at time of project registration.
