The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has appointed advocacy specialist Jonathan Cartledge to the role of Senior Manager – Industry and Government Relations.

Mr Cartledge joins the GBCA after six years with Consult Australia, most recently as Director of Policy and Government Relations.

“Our board has just approved an ambitious new strategic plan, which aims to drive a carbon positive industry, foster liveable, sustainable communities and cities, broaden market transformation and increase regional leadership,” explains the GBCA’s Chief Executive Officer, Romilly Madew.

“At the same time, the Turnbull Government is ramping up its investment in our cities, and taking steps to address climate change.

“Jonathan has more than 15 years’ experience in senior policy, strategy and project management roles, and understands the needs of our industry and how to work with governments to achieve results.

“He’s passionate about driving the sustainability agenda in Australia and we are excited to be welcoming him to our team,” Ms Madew adds.

'The GBCA demonstrates the leadership, innovation and collaboration essential to support better public policy. I am excited to be working with the GBCA team and members to continue to bring this vision and expertise to policy-makers across government, and ultimately to help realise a more sustainable future for all Australians,” Mr Cartledge says.

Mr Cartledge commences with the GBCA on 19 September.
